Monitor sharpness calculator: PPI and viewing distance
How sharp text looks depends on pixel density (PPI) and how far you sit. Enter a screen's size and resolution, from a listing or your current monitor, and how far your eyes are from it.
109 PPI
Single pixels blend from about 80 cm away.
At 60 cm you sit closer than that, so a sharp eye may make out single pixels at the edges of letters. Text still reads clearly.
How this is worked out
PPI is the diagonal in pixels divided by the diagonal in inches. The blend distance is where one pixel shrinks below one arcminute, the finest detail 20/20 vision resolves. It is a geometry result, not a test of any monitor, and eyes differ: many people see finer detail than 20/20.
